Speer Goes to Hollywood: Archival Footage Case Study
Speer Goes to Hollywood (2020) is a documentary based exclusively on edited archival footage. Based on months of audio cassettes, recorded by screenwriter Andrew Birkin, it features Albert Speer’s callous attempt to whitewash his past as a high ranking Nazi official. The audio narrative is supplemented by rare archival footage, taken before and during World War II and later.

In this Webinar the filmmakers will discuss the complex approach to using archival materials shot during and after WWII. They will talk about Fair Use and the extreme costs of footage, the ethical implications and artistic liberties, rewriting the past through editing and sound manipulation and more.

Panelists: Vanessa Lapa, Director, Joëlle Alexis, Editor and co-scriptwriter, Tomer Eliav, Sound Designer and Producer.
Moderated by Nilly Kalmar, CoPro - The Israeli Content Marketing Foundation

A link of the film will be sent on July 9th, and will be open until July 12th.
